“3 years ago I started working with a personal trainer. I was desperate for a solution to my back problems, I was afraid I’d have to give up jumping, that’s how messed up I was. We had a few setbacks with injuries and moved pretty slowly. I hit a big goal today, bigger than I had planned. I set a goal to deadlift 150lbs in 2020 this time a year ago when 95lbs was really hard. Today I deadlifted 200lbs x2. I can ride without pain. I wake up without pain. I can bend over and pick stuff up which is pretty cool. All I had to do was put up with Jay Corwell. Which if you know him, you know how much effort that is.”

“If you’re looking to add some serious strength to your body, then doing a powerlifting program by Jay is the way to go. I’ve known Jay for years and recently decided to try out a 12 week powerlifting program. The results were great! I added 20 lbs to my bench, 80 lbs to my squat, and 30 lbs to my deadlift. He answered all the questions I had and attached links to unfamiliar exercises. I can’t wait to give this program another go! Thanks Jay!”

“This was me on vacation in November 2018. My daughter had just turned 1 and I was feeling more rundown than usual from chasing her around on the beach and distinctly remember telling myself that when we got back I was going to finally get healthy. I was going to diet like crazy and start lifting weights and get back in shape. Something I’d told myself many times over the past decade.

I got back from our trip, attended all of the holiday festivities and afterward basically continued on as I always had. Nothing really changed. I didn’t really diet except maybe go on an extreme New Years resolution bender and I never exercised except for maybe picking up some old dumbbells for 30 seconds once every few months.

Fast forward another year and still nothing changed. I was still way bigger than I wanted to be. I was still not exercising or eating right and still not really able to keep up and play with my daughter.

I finally got my act together and went to the doctor in July 2020 for a check up and words like “morbidly obese”, “pre-diabetic”, and “at-risk” were used. I was told unless I made major lifestyle changes I would most likely have to go on meds basically forever.

I found myself weighing in at 287lbs and this time determined to make a change. So I started walking.

(July 2020)

This was a great first step and I started feeling a little better, but I didn’t have the strength or stamina to walk for very long and I still wasn’t really seeing the results on the scale I was looking for.

The next thing I did was reach out to a registered dietitian  and a personal trainer. I decided that if I wanted to see real progress I was going to need to make major lifestyle changes and I had it in my head that I was doing this.

I googled and researched a dietitian that focused on weight management, experience with pre-diabetic meal plans, and sports nutrition. I had it in my head that if I was going to start working out and eating right that I needed to make sure my training and eating were in sync.

At the same time I googled and researched personal trainers. I was looking for someone who focused on weight loss and also on getting stronger and who had proper exercise education and certifications.

I decided to reach out to Jay Corwell. I chose to reach out to Jay, because his credentials checked all my boxes and honestly he intimidated me and I felt like I needed that haha.

I’ve been working out with Jay twice a week since then and I honestly couldn’t have made a better choice in choosing a trainer. We clicked instantly and from the very first session he began correcting bad exercise habits and bad form that I had learned early on that no one ever told me.

Not only that but his approach was exactly what I needed (whether I knew it or not). We started off what I would now call slow (even though I barely made it through the first few sessions) so he could really see where I was physically. When I first started we laughed at a shoulder mishap I had reaching in the fridge for a gallon of milk.

Over the coming weeks, I could really start to tell a difference. I was feeling stronger, had more energy, could walk much farther and was finally starting to keep up with my daughter.

(August 2020)

My journey is far from over, but I’m very happy to say that I’ve lost 40 lbs so far and still going. My health numbers have improved drastically to the point I’m no longer considered pre-diabetic.

Jay has been a big part of my overall health and fitness goals and has helped me to live a healthier and happier life.”
